Maja, after spending more than 20 years in prison for the murder of her friend Laura, is released and returns to her hometown. At the age of 40, with no job and no friends, she has no choice but to live back in the family home with her parents.

Determined to put the past behind her and return to a normal life, she tries to find her way around old corners and old acquaintances. She also clashes with the local community, which, however, remembers her mainly as a headline-grabbing murderess. “Return to Life” is a dark and at the same time funny, thoroughly true, but also absurd story about second chances from fate, forgiveness and small things that grow into dreams.
